21 March 2019
Saturday 9th March saw a small group of intrepid litter pickers venture on to Airport Way to see what we could find. It was a windy and slightly stormy day with the heaven opening just as we were starting at 11am. The group was made up of local residents, Green party activists, parish and district councillors.
We managed in the space of just over an hour to rescue nearly 20 bags of rubbish from a relatively small section of Airport Way (we didn’t manage to cover the section past the school). We collected an amazing array of rubbish. The normal bottles and cans that people throw from their cars but also hub caps, fly tipped bed springs and a shoe.
A massive thank you to all those that took part, and also the council who provided litter picker grabbers, bags and gloves.
I would hope that we can do the event again at some point and finish the job (watch out in Teversham News for future dates).
